8-Bolt Spider
I designed a spider for SRAM 8-bolt to 110 BCD that costs less than $5 to manufacture, and it can be redesigned for other BCDs in a few minutes.
SRAM's 8-bolt standard is a great way to attach chainrings to cranksets. The direct mount design allows users to attach a chainring of almost any size or offset. However, this means that users are limited to the chainrings on the market that are designed for 8-bolt.
A solution is to use a spider that converts 8-bolt into another standard. There are only a few of these on the market—i.e. Wolf Tooth's CAMO or Cane Creek's eeWings—and they're complex, CNC'd components that take a lot of time and money to design and manufacture. I decided to design a spider that could be lasercut from 5mm 7075 sheet stock with minimal post-processing. I started off with Shimano 110 BCD, but this spider can be redesigned for different bolt standards and offsets very easily.
Chainrings like this 0mm offset 42t bolt onto the spider using regular single chainring bolts.

When installed, the spider+chainring combo approximates the 6.5mm offset of SRAM road and gravel 1x chainrings. The exact offset depends on chainring width, but it's within ~0.5mm.

Designs for other BCDs, offsets, and 2x rings are forthcoming.
